Munnar- The Real God's Own Country

Munnar. If you are either a Malayali or a person living in Kerala, the first thing that might have come into your mind will be foggy mornings, high range travelling, cold weather and the most important of all- beautiful scenery. What a beautiful place to spend your holidays, away from those polluted air of the cities, breathing the fresh air of Nature!!

Let me first tell you about how I reached Munnar. We can go by car, van, bus, etc. I had a few friends who had come over from Mumbai and some where living close by. I actually began the journey along with my friends the day after my uncle's marriage reception. We set off for Munnar at around 2pm in the afternoon, which I think is one of the worst ideas my dad has taken. My dad had arranged for a tempo traveler. The travel was really tiring (it depends on the type of vehicle like for eg.: car, trains, etc. I travelled in a tempo traveller) because of the bad road conditions!! Sometimes, you can even see a tree fallen on your path!! Man, that is really scary!! Luckily, nothing of that sort of danger occurred while I was travelling!! We reached Munnar in the night!! Took dinner, and had a good night's sleep and there I was next morning, fresh enough to face another tiring day!! But unfortunately there was Hartal ( or you can even call it a strike, I guess) due to which we had to stay indoors all day! But we got out to visit places in Munnar by 3 in the afternoon!! There are lots of places to see in Munnar. I suggest you do a good research on the places to visit in Munnar before heading there.

Now, regarding the accomodation, I stayed at a home stay called Lizz Merry Casa, run by a person named Johny and his wife, Lizzy. There are many hotels but I would strongly recommend you to book a home stay. I would recommend the above mentioned home stay without a second thought. Mr. and Mrs. Johny was extremely cooperative and took care of every minute detail to make their guest feel at home. Even the food cooked by them is 'out of the world'. All the dishes prepared by Mrs. Johny was mind-blowing. They would take you out for shopping and to roam around in Munnar.

Indeed, Munnar is the best place to get closer to the nature! It is also a very good place to spend your holidays with your family!!
